50MV take on the Thames Path Challenge for the third time!

We're raising money for our Practice Interview Events by taking part in the Thames Path Challenge 2026!
If you have any questions regarding the event or fundraising, please email our Global Co-ordinator, Shilpa Sagwal, directly on info@50millionvoices.org.
We're building a team to walk a historic stretch of the Thames Path on Saturday 12th September from Fulham to Hurst Park (near Hampton Court). It's a 28KM walk along the banks of the beautiful river Thames, England's most famous river.
We'd be thrilled if you could donate or join us to fundraise!
If you'd like to join the team, check out the steps below to register for the Thames Path Challenge.
You'll need to register for 2 things:
- Thames Path Challenge 2025
- A Just Giving sponsorship page
1. Thames Path Challenge
a) Go to https://www.ultrachallenge.com/thames-path-challenge/sign-up-now/.
b) Scroll down, choose Option 3 on the Funding Options which requires £50, depending on how much you believe you can fundraise. Please note, if you are struggling to raise the entry cost, there is an option of paying less - please contact us to arrange this info@50millionvoices.org.
c) Scroll down to the next screen to choose '1st Quarter Challenge' (28KM)
d) From here, they take your details including payment.
e) Next, select your charity and team. Find 50 Million Voices under “Listed Charity" then "All Other Charities."
f) Select '50 Million Voices as your Team (captain is Iain Wilkie) and input our team password: KingGeorge6
You will then receive two emails: a receipt and a registration confirmation. Congrats - you're registered! We'll provide a 50 Million Voices T-Shirt for the day, too!
2. JustGiving sponsorship page
Once you've registered for the Challenge, you'll automatically be sent a JustGiving page to complete.
Please use this page to send to your supporters for sponsorship requests. JustGiving will take care of collections, gift aid and all the reporting information for us.
Follow the guidance and instructions below on how to best complete the page. For example, helping your donors understand why helping people who stutter with free interview practice is important to you.

Below we've created some standard templated text, for both people who stutter and allies, for their JustGiving page. Feel free to use or amend to suit your needs.
If you're a person who stutters, the below template may be good for your page:
At 50MV, we place a big focus on interviews because having a job plays a huge role in determining the quality of our lives – not only economically and socially, but also in how it affects our mental, physical and emotional health.
We also know that fluency bias prevails in many workplaces and that stuttering is still regarded as an inferior and unacceptable way of speaking. Consequently, for millions of people who stutter, a job interview is an impossible barrier which may never be passed and meaningful employment often remains a distant dream.
This is where 50 Million Voices comes in.
Our Practice Interview events have already helped over 800 participants, from over 38 countries and 5 continents, to improve their interview skills and confidence. They’ve also helped many employers to embrace stuttering-inclusive mindsets and interviewing skills.
Below is a template for allies:
Some 50 million people of employable age stammer across the globe, hence our name.
Misconceptions, prejudice and lack of understanding mean people who stammer are at least twice as likely to be unemployed and often underperform at work. Their talents and strengths may be ignored or never even seen. It does not need to be this way. That’s why we’re working to transform the world of work for people who stammer.
A lot depends on job interviews - how they are conducted and the way stammering is affected by the nature of the interaction.
Your support will help fund and continue our proven flagship online practice interviews programme, which brings together people who stammer and people who don’t, with briefing sessions and workshops as well as the interviews themselves.
Our practice interviews:
- Empower people who stutter to successfully tackle interviews
- Equip interviewers and well-known employers with essential listening skills
- Provide hands-on learning experiences in a safe environment, addressing an often-overlooked subject
- Build valuable - and often ongoing - relationships with fellow people who stutter and/or allies
- Successfully help individuals secure their desired jobs or promotions
On behalf of everyone at 50 Million Voices, thank you for considering donating or taking part in this challenge to raise money for the next Practice Interview event. We hugely appreciate your support.
Alternatively, if you'd like to raise money for 50MV by choosing a different distance or day, or even a different event, we'd be thrilled about that too. Just get in touch, and we'll help you get started.
